I was recently given a gift that will forever shape and change my life. I have been blessed with the opportunity to attend Yoga Teacher Training starting February, 2017. My husband and friends have truly and unexpectedly outdone themselves with this. This site will follow me on my journey through what I am told will be a life changing experience.
My journey begins on December 10th, 2016. Crystal, a close friend of mine, was visiting me here in Indianapolis. She had come out to Indy from Connecticut to see the Circle of Lights Downtown. On Saturday evening, we had just arrived back home from seeing the lights downtown and were in the kitchen standing around the table.
Sabrina, another of my friends had messaged me as we were standing there to ask if we could FaceTime. I called her and as we were talking, Crystal pulls out a box for me to open. Christmas had come early for me.
Within the box were a few items like a spare battery to charge my electronics on the go and a new bike lock. The most important gift was a 2017 Yoga Kittens calendar. On the back was a sticky note with a message and an arrow. The message was “Start Yoga Teacher Training”. The arrow pointed to the general time frame of when the training would begin, in the early Spring.
It took me a moment to realize what the note meant. I was overjoyed once the realization set in that I was going to attend Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. My husband and friends banded together to pay for me to attend Yoga Teacher Training at Practice Indie! I still feel incredibly excited and blessed as I write this.
To add some backstory to this, I had been talking with my husband, Justin, about Yoga Teacher Training and how I wanted to attend a program in 2017. As I was doing research on the various 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training programs in Indianapolis I was disappointed to find out that the program cost ranged from $2,600 – $3,500, depending on the studio.
After speaking with Justin about the programs and the cost, I decided that Teacher Training was not going to happen in 2017. I could not justify the cost of the Teacher Training program when I am still paying off my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Needless to say, I was astounded (and still am!) when I realized what the gift was and how generous it is.
In the time since that incredible Saturday evening, I applied for and have been accepted into the Yoga Teacher Training at Practice Indie. I have exchanged several e-mails with Shannon, one of Practice Indie’s two primary Teacher Training instructors. I met with her in person after taking a class at the studio. Speaking with Shannon only heightened my excitement for the Training!
I cannot wait until February 12 when the classes begin. The program runs from February 12 – May 28. This is an intensive program and will take up a lot of my time. Until the program begins, Shannon has encouraged me to journal about my yoga experiences. This blog will be used to journal about my yoga experiences and also to catalogue my journey through Yoga Teacher Training.
I would like to take the time to express my eternal gratitude to everyone that has contributed to this. My wonderful husband Justin has my gratitude for organizing this. I also would like to recognize and thank my friends Crystal, Jenny, Sabrina, Lauren, Amy, and David.
